Auditorium Hamburg 2022 - 2023

Exhilarated and Exhausted

Be there as Freddie Mercury prepares for the Queen performance, or sit together with rock greats such as Led Zeppelin or Mötley Crüe. Neal Preston’s music photographs made it possible. From December 8, 2023, Neals Preston’s paintings could be admired in the Auditorium Hamburg in large format. The exhibition was opened with an informative evening event. Until the end of January 2023, the Preston works hung in the Hamburg Auditorium.

In the 50 years of his career as a photographer, Neal Preston has had pretty much all rock icons since the sixties in front of his lens: Led Zeppelin, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, Queen… The list goes on and on. His photographs are used for TV shows, films or booklets or can be found on numerous magazines, newspapers and books – and will also hang in the Auditorium Hamburg from 8 December.

The owner of the paintings is the Lightpower Collection from Paderborn, whose founder Ralph-Jörg Wezorke was a guest at the Auditorium Hamburg on December 8 to open the exhibition. At the evening event there were all kinds of facts and interesting facts about “In the Eye of the Rock’n’Roll Hurricane”.

For the entire month of December 2022 and January 2023, visitors had the opportunity to see 36 concert photographs free of charge: A relaxed get-together of Mötley Crüe before the next concert or be there “live” as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury puts on kohl before the performance. At least it felt like live, because the close-ups gave the scenes a liveliness that drew the viewer into the middle of the action.

The Lightpower Collection, to which the works on display belonged, has been on tour for almost 10 years now with the exhibition “In the Eye of the Rock’n’Roll Hurricane”. All proceeds from sales of signed fine art prints benefit charitable foundations within the event industry.
