"In 1988, Amnesty International organized a world tour to promote its organization. With Peter Gabriel and a few other well-known artists, we traveled all over the world and played in many places where there were usually no big rock shows. Certainly nothing comparable to what we did.
This picture of Peter Gabriel was taken from a truss high above the stage, I photographed down as he surfed through the crowd. It originated in Côte d'Ivoire in West Africa. It's really amazing because I took an identical photo in Oakland, at the Oakland show, all the faces of the crowd are white, and at the African show, all the faces of the crowd are black.
On the faces of these people you can see the joy that they have never seen anything like it before. All of a sudden, the biggest names in the industry are there, and it was a very, very great time for me." - NEAL
